What is Encryption?

First thing first, Encryption is known as the best method for securing data. What actually encryption does is, it transforms the data into cipher text which can not be understood and generates a key which is used for reverting the data back into the same state which is also called decryption. Encryption is also used in military and government industries to protect the data and it is also everywhere from big companies to small personal computer. There are many algorithms used for encryption such as stream cipher, block cipher, asymmetric encryption etc.

How To Encrypt A Drive?

So, Here is the interesting part that how can we encrypt a drive. There is not a rocket science behind this but just simple steps which I'm gonna show you below. Remember, this guide is specially for windows users. First of all, you have to decide which partition or drive you want to encrypt so prepare it first and put your private files in it. After that, we'll use BitLocker, which is the default windows encryption program, to encrypt our drive.
  • Go To My Computer >> Right Click on the drive which you want to encrypt.
  • Click on "Turn on BitLocker"
  • Tick mark "Use a password to unlock the drive"
  • Enter Password and also re-enter.
  • Click Next
  • Now you'll asked to backup your recovery key
  • Here you have several ways to backup your recovery key. You can save it in your Microsoft account, USB flash drive, a file or print it.
  • Choose the best method that suits you.
  • Done!

Final Words
